Giving Back

We’re very lucky here at WebSavvy. We get to do what we love day after day. So we think it’s very important to give back.

Below are some details about the three charities that we support and links to their donation pages.

Here’s the deal… You get to ask us (Mike or one of the team) any question you like about Internet Marketing, Google AdWords – or anything else. All we ask is that you donate an amount (you choose how much) to one of these charities first. Sound fair?

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Akiva Kiva.org – Kiva’s model is micro-lending. You choose a budding entrepreneur from their website and donate a small amount to the total that they’re trying to raise. For instance, you might choose to donate money to a farmer in Africa who’s trying to raise enough money to buy chickens and food so that she might later sell those chickens of the market. Or maybe there’s a family in Cambodia who want to improve their home for their children and want to borrow the money to tile their floor or build a new roof. Your donation helps them to improve their life immediately, and then they repay your donation over the course of 12 months.

You can choose to spread your donations across a large number of very small loans, so that the risk of default is very low (in fact the average default rate is much lower than an average bank loan in Australia the UK or the United States). And because this is micro-lending, you get all of your money back (typically within 12 months) at which point you can either choose to lend it again, or simply withdraw your money directly back to your bank account.

RoomToRead.org – Room to read works around the world to improve the educational facilities in rural communities. they establish libraries, reading rooms, build schools and even sponsor long-term girls’ education.

Room to ReadTheir challenge grants model ensures that the local communities in which they work take ownership of their projects, which ensures the long-term sustainability of the libraries and schools they helped to create. To date they have built over 7000 libraries and distributed in excess of 5.5 million books. It estimated the impact of this amazing charity has already benefited over 3 million children.

This year WebSavvy’s goal is to raise enough money (from clients, friends and staff) to build an entire reading room. Thank you in advance to your donation.

Ian Conway is an amazing man. He was recently featured on the ABC TV show ‘Australian story’. His work with remote aboriginal communities is nothing short of inspirational and an example to all of us lucky enough to be to choose what we do each day. Ian’s vision is to give aboriginal kids access to first-class education by sending them to private schools in Adelaide. The cost of doing this is enormous and too long Ian has been dipping into his own pocket to do this amazing work. Your donation however large or small will have a huge impact on a young life.

Here’s a typical Kiva story to give you an idea of how your money will benefit someone on the other side of the world
