As we mentioned a few weeks ago, Google is implementing a slight change to it’s URL policy for AdWords.
As of Feb 24 you’ll no longer be able to have display URLs from more than one top level domain (the bit before the .com or .com.au)
Here’s the example from the Inside AdWords Crew:
For example, an ad group containing the following group of display URLs would comply with this policy because all URLs contain the same top-level domain, “example.com”:
* www.example.com
* www.widgets.example.com
* www.example.com/widgets/redwidgets/
* www.example.com/index.htmlOn the other hand, and ad group containing the following group of display URLs would not comply with our policy because their top-level domains don’t match:
* www.example.com
* www.example.widgets.com
What does this mean for you?
If you want to run tests on different URLs, you’ll now have to separate them into different AdGroups – which of course will make testing that little bit tricker.
It also means your account may need a tidy up or some rearranging – often not a bad thing to do anyway
Let us know if you’d like some help with that…
